-------------------------------------------------------------------- COLLOQUIUM OF THE LABORATORY FOR COMPUTER DESIGN OF MATERIALS School of Computational Sciences (CSI 898-Sec 001) -------------------------------------------------------------------- Modeling Complex Fluids Using Lattice Boltzmann and Dissipative Particle Dynamics Methods Nicos S. Martys National Institute of Standars and Technology, Gaitherburg, MD The flow of complex fluids plays important role in a wide variety of environmental and technical processes and is of fundamental interest. Some examples of complex fluids are polymer blends, fresh concrete, and colloidal suspensions. In this talk I will discuss the computational modeling of such fluid systems using the lattice Boltzmann method and dissipative particle dynamics. Results will be presented concerning the phase separation of binary mixtures under shear and the flow of dense suspensions. Some research challenges will also be discussed. Monday , March 18, 2002 4:30 pm Room 206, Science & Tech. I Refreshments will be served at 4:15 PM. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Find the schedule at http://www.csi.gmu.edu/lcdm/seminar/schedule.html
